The flag was released as an anti-capitalist design, and was designed in collaboration with the Black and Indigenous trans and queer community. Feliz is a resource activist, writer, illustrator, and educator with a focus on consistent anti-oppression advocacy. The flag was first released online in the summer of 2018 by Puerto Rican designer Julia Feliz.
